Ford Falcon Sprint

Years produced: 1964-1965

Probably most famous these days for its use in Mad Max, the Ford Falcon Sprint is a fun and fascinating relic. The Falcon Sprint had a lot of cool equipment, including a 280 ci V8, stiffer suspension and louder exhaust (because you want people to hear your V8 roar.) Problem was, the following year the Ford Mustang would be released. The Mustang came with the same options and stomped the Falcon into the dust, despite the Falcon being cheaper.

While it lived on down under (where the Falcon name was still being used until last year,) it never took off in the US, lasting just two production years. As well as looking gorgeous, it was a racer too, being used in the ’64 Monte Carlo Rally. If you’re ever in the market for a classic Ford muscle car that isn’t the Mustang, that will look different on the streets and in your driveway, consider the Falcon Sprint. A fun, compact racer, that just came out at the wrong time.
