Mercury Marauder X-100

Years produced: 1969-1970

It’s almost impossible to look at the Mercury Marauder of the late 60s and not be impressed. It boasts a beautiful full-size design that sums up car design of that era. Square, but aerodynamic, with swept back wings and beautiful chrome. The X-100 takes this design and makes it all the better. Like the Avanti, it mixes speed and luxury extremely well. Under the hood, you’d find a 429 ci V8 which produced 360 horsepower and a tire-shredding 480 lbs/ft of torque.

It was no sportster, instead, it was a massive full-size (121 inches to be precise,) that felt no need to downsize into something smaller or lighter. It was never going to be as popular as it maybe should have been though. Only 8281 were ever built in the first place, and it wasn’t widely bought by the public who were enamored with other models. As such, despite being rare, it won’t be too expensive if you find one, with an average value of around $15000.
