1957 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE

Just prior to the Fourth of July holiday weekend in 2010, Mike Yager received an offer to buy a Corvette that had been “out of commission for awhile.” Mike’s attention and curiosity were piqued. He hit the road to check out this Corvette “opportunity.” The adventure took them down an old country road, more than 200 feet from the main county road

Screened from the road by trees, and surrounded with tall weeds and brush, an old barn was tucked away off the beaten path in Central Illinois. The door to the old barn had been nailed shut for nearly four decades.

As the barn door was pried open and pushed back, they found, still sitting on a car trailer, a 1957 Corvette! The Red-on-Red Corvette with White top and White coves, was purchased more than 40 years ago in California. This 1957 Corvette, serial number E57S101258, served as an inspiration for the Corvette Bible and garnered a spot on the front cover of the book.

Having been stored in a barn for nearly 40 years, the Corvette remains in “as-discovered” condition. The Yagers opted to leave it on the trailer and preserve the age-developed patina. The only time the car has been off the original trailer was to identify its serial number. Over the past five years, this 1957 has been featured in several magazines, as well as a great conversation piece at numerous shows across the country. E57S101258 is a great candidate for a ground-up restoration, a future resto mod or just a great conversation starter as-is!
