Ringbrothers Unleash Their First Ever SUV

If there’s one group of people you can always bet on to release superb restomods, it’s Ringbrothers. Jim and Mike Ring have put out vehicle after vehicle of restomodded perfection, and now, for the first time ever, they’ve turned their hands to an SUV. The subject of their work, named Seaker, is a 1971 Chevy K5 Blazer. The somewhat convertible SUV is not perhaps the most obvious vehicle to choose, but they’ve made it work.

Under Seaker’s hood, there is a 430-horsepower LS3 hooked up to a Bowler 4L60E automatic transmission. Paired with it are a Holley fuel system and a Flowmaster exhaust. Despite its power, the engine isn’t really the thing to focus on here. It’s not a screaming demon shot from a cannon in the very depths of hell itself. What the SUV is however, is a triumph of engineering and design.

The body has been lifted by just one inch, and it has kept most of its original suspension, somewhat surprisingly. Don’t let that put you off however: there are new shocks and sway bars to keep things cushy. There’s a new soft top, and a roll bar has been added, but in general, the lines have been smoothed, rather than changed dramatically. Small, worn out components such as door hinges, window cranks, and door handles have been replaced with new Ringbrothers parts. Other parts given the snip and replaced with new custom pieces include the firewall, running boards, engine covers, floors, and side panels. The paint is by Mercedes-Benz, called Brazilian Smoke, and it looks incredibly gorgeous.

Inside, the new upholstery comes courtesy of Upholstery Unlimited, with the truck also featuring Vintage Air and a touchscreen sound system.
Want to get your hands on the Seaker? Bad news, it’s already been destined to a life storming over Floridian beaches. However, you can gorge on the pictures on this page to your heart’s content.
