Heart Stopping 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

October 21, 2014

The classic car auction taking place in Anaheim, California this year starting on November 13 is destined to become a real heart stopper. There are literally tons of fast cars with shiny paint, chrome and other go-fast goodies.

Trying to weed these classics out to find one to showcase has proven to be a difficult task. Truthfully, there are a lot of beautiful cars at this Mecum Auction. Out of the 750 slated to be there, only one stands out in my eyes this time around.

Why? Because black and chrome are sexy.

Plus, when you’re pounding the pavement with 630 ponies, what else matters? More on that later…

The car is a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. I know what you’re thinking: “yes, but is it a real Super Sport”? According to the VIN listed on Mecum’s website, this is the real deal. The Vehicle Identification Number has the much coveted “38” to denote that this car came with the most powerful engine GM produced that year–the Big Block 396 V8. The original 396 produced an impressive 375 hp and a neck cracking 415 lb-ft of torque. Not too shabby for 1967. However, things can always be improved upon…

This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS has just enough modern touch to keep it relevant, while keeping true to the authentic muscle car era. For example, this functional dash display has just the right amount of flare to force you into thinking that you may be driving a rocket ship.

The simple, yet refined, cream colored leather and suede interior is one of the many reasons why this beauty has won so many awards. A list of awards won by this car is as follows: multiple Good Guys awards, The People’s Choice Award in Nashville and the Best of Show Atlanta World of Wheels. She was also a finalist in the Year-One Cup which is presented by Chip Foose.

At some point, someone decided that the 396 Big Block wasn’t going to be powerful enough, so they opted for something…a bit bigger. This is the 540 CI Merlin Big Block. This thing is meant to do one thing, and that is to get you from A to B as fast as possible. One thing’s for sure, they couldn’t fit any more chrome in the engine bay!

Want this car? There’s only one way to get it, and that’s on the auction block. So make sure you’re in Anaheim from November 13-15 to make sure you reserve your chance to pick up this fine automobile. And hey, if you miss out, you could always build your own.
