A British Take On An American Icon: 1967 Mustang Fastback Restomod

We’re fans of covering restomodding from all around the world — it’s great to see our hobby spreading, and this car nails it. A 1967 Mustang fastback built by British restomodding company Clive Sutton, this beast has been upgraded in every way imaginable, while keeping the car’s retro charm intact.

Let’s start with what’s under the hood. British manufacturers have never had the ‘no replacement for displacement’ philosophy, but its hobbyists absolutely do. In this Mustang, you’ll find a 5.4-liter V8 that kicks out 520 horsepower thanks to its upgraded pistons and camshaft. In this example, it’s been hooked up to a five-speed manual gearbox, but if you want to order one from then company, they’ll happily provide you with a four-speed auto. They’ll even give you a 7-liter V8 if you want to get crazy. Traction control and Line Lock capabilities have also been installed, taken from the newest line of Mustangs.

The exterior has been extensively modified: new body panels bedeck the car, and its finished in 2018 Ford colors. Inside, there’s more leather than in a Shades of Grey book. The dash has been remade from carbon fiber, complete with LED gauges and a new center console. Add to this a brand new sound system, and a touchscreen set up featuring Apple CarPlay and sat-nav.

So, how much is this ‘stang? Well, the prices range from £190,000 to £300,000 ($256,000 to $404,000 at time of writing). You’ll also have to provide your own car, but if you fancy having your car restomodded without having to lift a finger, it’s a price well worth paying.
