Chevrolet pickup trucks underwent a core shift when the Advance Design pickups were replaced by the new Task Force series. An industry first wraparound front windshield clearly put the Task Force trucks into the modern world. Late 1955 and 1956 brought the Task Force Series II, with improved features such as a 12-volt electrical system and available V-8.

The last year for the open-grille-style Task Force trucks was 1957, as they were redesigned for 1958. In 1959 the light-duty Apache featured dual headlights, available fleetside bed, full-view rear window and what Chevrolet called high-level ventilation. This 1959 Apache Fleetside Pickup has logged just over 3,000 miles since frame-off rotisserie restoration.

The rust-free sheet metal was painted with factory-code Klondike Gold paint with cream-color accent spears along the fleetside bed. Accessories, such as the body-color sun visor, are met by a chrome rain cover and spotlight. All brightwork along with chrome-plated bumpers and trim were brought back to an outstanding shine. The fleetside bed features a genuine oak hardwood floor finished into high gloss, with chrome-plated tailgate hardware a fitting accent to utility.

In a vast improvement over the standard Thristmaster 6-cylinder, this Apache is equipped with a late-model small-block Chevrolet V-8 topped with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. Ceramic-coated headers breathe into a large-diameter dual exhaust tucked up under the highly detailed undercarriage. An automatic transmission is another upgrade, though the Apache retains its tall floor shifter in the cabin.

Faithfully restored upholstery and carpet is met by a tilt steering column for adjustable comfort. The Apache rides on steel wheels with wide whitewall radial tires. Full-size wheel covers are a perfect finishing touch in this last of the Task Force Apache pickups.
