This amazing car was made from three, yes, that’s right, three Model As, which were stripped and forced together to create one fully functional model. The car came together in 1949, when Dick Flint made a custom chassis designed for the lakes. The reformed Model A body was then thrown on top, but with a few crucial differences. A race-style nose was created, as well as a belly pan, hydraulic brakes were fitted, and the whole thing was dropped, with an emphasis placed on aerodynamics.

Put a 286ci Mercury flathead under the hood, and its performance was never going to come as a surprise. In an El Mirage run, it hit 143.54mph, a run commemorated since by an SCTA tag on the dash. The car eventually went through an extensive rebuild. When it was bought by Don Orosco in the early 90s, the frame was reengineered, with a Ford Model A and a Ford K-Member being mated together and Z’d, all fitted together following Ford guidelines. The updated model then won first place in Pebble Beaches Concours d’Elegance’s second hot rod class in 2001. It sold at auction in 2013 for $577,500.
